Local Schools Christmas Poem Competition - Winners

In October, local primary and secondary schools were invited to submit their top three poetry entries across three age categories for a chance of winning £200 in Waterstone’s vouchers for the winning school and £50 for the winning student. Themes included “When Rudolph Became a Racehorse”, “When Santa came to Ascot Racecourse” and “The Elf that became a jockey”.

The entries were judged by Clare Balding, writer, broadcaster, animal lover and sports fan – you can view her message to the winners here:

Winning students have been invited to collect their prizes from the Directors of Ascot Racecourse and to have the honour of reading out their poems on our winner’s podium on Saturday, 18th December 2021.
